ABC Studio Childcare is a sustainable approach nursery catering for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers (from birth to 5 years).
We have taken the utmost care in every aspect of our nursery from planning and designing the space, serving healthy and nutritious meals to choosing the best quality of educational materials, resources and the most qualified and nurturing staff. We always have your child’s best interest at heart.
Our story
It all started with a Mum. A Mum who wanted to create a safe play space for her 3-year-old. So ABC Studio Stay & Play opened its doors in the heart of Forest Hill, South East of London. It quickly became the destination for many local families, nannies, and childminders. The place for kids to enjoy and for carers to relax, meet old friends and make new ones. Unfortunately, Stay&Play facility is not open any longer as the space became too small to run during the pandemic.
During the first 3 years of the ABC Studio existence, the same Mum welcomed thousands of parents and had hundreds of conversations. And what seemed to be on everyone’s mind was the lack of not only a soft play places but, most importantly, the shortage of decent local day childcare.
So Mum came up with a new plan - to open a nursery. And not just any nursery but one that would put a Loving, Sustainable and Planet-friendly approach at its very foundation.
She was familiar with the sense of guilt and anxiety parents face when sending their little ones to nursery. And the only way to ease the pressure is to find a nursery that would be just like home - loving, safe and warm. A place which kids look forward to coming back every day, as a new adventure awaits them.
And with all these ideas and great intentions ABC Studio Childcare Peckham was born in 2020. It was the year of lockdowns but we sailed high above them and achieved solid GOOD grading with Ofsted at the end of 2022. Here is the link to our report: https://files.ofsted.gov.uk/v1/file/50203915.
With this fantastic feedback from Ofsted, the world has become our oyster and we have now opened second branch in Hammersmith, London.
Our Facilities
We offer a safe, friendly, clean and fun place for your child to learn through play both indoors and outdoors. In our Peckham branch we have 2 lovely outdoor areas which are open to the children throughout each session. One is our safe and bright playground with ride on vehicles, toys and balls. And the other one is our Urban Nature Trail that gives our children great opportunity to visit onsite Forest School and enjoy planting, bug hotel, mud kitchen, sand pits, grape harvest, etc. Our Hammersmith branch offers 2 playgrounds - one directly connected to baby room and the other available to the rest of ages. And there is also Ravenscourt Park across the road.
Children will be outside for playtimes in all weathers except high winds, extreme ice and electrical storms. We believe that being outdoors in all weathers is a valuable experience that will help children become more resilient as well as fostering a love of nature and the outdoors. We are not a nursery that wants to tell children to avoid puddles; we want to encourage them to jump in! This links to our outdoor learning and Forest School ethos and is something we believe is vitally important for young children’s development and wellbeing.
Indoors, our Peckham nursery comprises of two areas: downstairs (play area) and upstairs (play and rest), whereas our Hammersmith setting is one level with plenty of rooms for various age groups. Every room in both settings is separated into zones - soft play, reading corner & literacy, pretend play, chill-out etc. And both locations boast separate rooms for nap time.
We encourage free flow, especially for younger children. Our staff would go ‘with the flow’ and support your child at each step in the journey.
We’re striving to be ‘green’, not only through our indoor plants and the edible garden project, but also in our choice of sustainable toys and materials, reduced waste and the zero new plastic approach.
